Manna had this amazing idea for this lil meme and if you peeps wanna you should read her post and maybe even join in!
Now let me tell you a thing. I still have my ups and downs and sometimes I hate what I draw, but here is what keeps me going: I look back and see how far I’ve come.
I used to believe in talent. Like most people I thought it was something you were born with. If you weren’t, well then you are screwed and there’s nothing to be done for your artistic skills. But you know what? That’s complete bullshit and you should put that idea right into the bin. It’s only holding you back.
I wasn’t born with the skill level I have now or had back in 1997. I acquired it by drawing basically everyday ever since I could hold a pencil. Of course I produced some crappy art, in fact, I’m still doing it today, but if it’s the best crap I can create at that particular time I’ll be damn proud of it and I know all y’all out there no matter your level of skill can be proud of the things you draw right now too! Even if they don’t look as good as you want them to look yet they will be up to your standards eventually, if you keep practicing! (Really just look at all the progress I made just in the last 18 months only because I kept drawing almost every day!)
So, don’t be scared to make bad art! Don’t let anyone drag you down by telling you your art is shit, only because it doesn’t look quite right yet. So what if it doesn’t? You’ll get there eventually if you persist!
